When I open the app it gives a choice of opening a local file. The response is to use the File Explorer and open the yWriter file using Open With. Using the Open With, it reports there is no app to open a .yw7 file type. It allows a search for an app from the Playstore, but opening yWriter only brings back the opening menu. My questions are: How do I open my yWriter project? Is there a mechanism to import a project into the local space of yWriter? It was said that this space is only available to the app.
I've only used a USB cable to move files to and from my tablet (using a sync app).
Thanks

Hi Mike, This is unexpected behaviour and sounds like a bug, as 'yWriter' should be an available option. I'd like to find out more about the issue. What model of device and Android version are you using? This will help me narrow down the issue. You can check your Android version in this guide: support.google.com/android/answer/7680439?hl=enFor Chrome OS devices, there is a known issue where the inbuilt Files app does not detect yWriter as an 'Open With' choice, but this can be worked around by downloading an alternative Android file manager app. You could try this in case it works for your device. Another workaround is to upload your project to Dropbox, and then access the Dropbox folder from the app. You can then 'Save As...' into the App Folder. I'll be uploading a new Beta version soon (next day or so) which allows access to the local Documents directory where you can place files, so hopefully that will be another way around this issue. Just a quick update, the next Beta update will take a bit longer but will probably include a revamped storage system that solves a lot of common issues.

Liz, I look forward to the update. If it will allow access to the local file system, should be a fix.
I'm using a Samsung Tab S6 Lite running Android 13.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike, The update is available now: ywriter-app.boards.net/thread/10/beta-2023-more-storage-options. Please give it a try and see if it solves your issue. The process to open a local file (Documents/etc) has changed. Open the yWriter app, select Open Project, and then navigate to your file on your device to choose it.
